1. Testimonials - I’d look around at www.webhostingstuff.com and other top webhost places and see if testimonials have been written about this host. I wouldn’t completely rely on testimonials to make your decision because i’ve found some good hosts in the past that other people didn’t like their policies. For sure i would take them into consideration but i would seriously email their support. If you get a response in less than 5 hours it looks like they at least check their email. Try out their other support services and see if you get a fast response.
2. Customers - Generally focus on the webhosts with fewer customers. Why would i say something such as this ? Well the webhost would probably give more time into helping you out because they have fewer customers to worry about. You generally would get more help from the top management who know more of what they are doing then the staff they just hired who are learning.
3. User-Friendly - Biggest mistake i see with most hosts today is a very not user-friendly way of paying the webhost. Some billing systems are far more complicated then others. Thats why here at surewire we offer only clientexec free with the reseller account. Clientexec is far more user friendly then other billing systems. See the user is going to say i can’t figure this out, get frustrated in which you wouldn’t want, and eventually leave that company. Thats why if you stay in constant contact or vice-versa with the host or the customer you will not be leaving with the phrase “How do i do that ?”
4. Plans - If you read nothing else in this article then this particular section then i have achieved my goal. You will see various hosting companies offer plans with unlimited bandwidth. I will tell you today that no matter where you are there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. If you were using in the 3,000 of bandwidth most hosting companies either would warn you or ban you off of their system. Even the suppliers of the services such as theplanet.com or layeredtech.com don’t offer unlimited bandwidth to hosting companies. Why then do they do it ? It is a not honest marketing strategy. They believe that people will look at this whom have no previous hosting experience and believe it. I’d say in a given week even sure wire uses no more than 5-10 GB of bandwidth and that is because of the many videos we have on here. If you are the average user who has a blog site you probably would use less than a gig of bandwidth. Why then are you paying for something your not going to use ?
Here at surewire you will never ever ever ever as long as we live ever see us offer a unlimited bandwidth plan. It is an unhonest marketing strategy that will never take place on our hosting. Also the hosting space, is 25 GB for the top plan and 4 GB for the lowest. People tell me all the time Garet your offering 4 GB when for the lowest plan i can go to thegreatesthostintheworld.com for instance and get a plan of 1,000 GB of space. Come on seriously, are you ever going to use that much space. I mean i could see the next youtube.com using that much space because of all the videos but even if you had your entire hd up on there you would still only use about 100GB and some places consider that as server abuse. Another reason why you will never see us offer a shared or reseller ever above 50 GB. We believe only in selling the customer what they are actually going to use.
5. Wording - Wording is a clever marketing strategy by a lot of hosts to gain the consumer’s trust through false advertising such as. We offer domains for $1.00/year if you sign up with us. Well i was once suckered into a deal like this through a hosting company which i will not name. They held onto my domain for over 2 years even though their terms said only 60 days. I couldn’t transfer it to another registrar. So my advice to you in this is read the terms of service carefully to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.
That is all thanks for reading.
